The 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival celebrated the history and legacy of the Shadow racing team, with the appearance of Shadow Can-Am and Formula 5000 cars in addition to car designer Trevor Harris (pictured) and Penny Nichols, daughter of owner Don Nichols, being special guests at the event.

Shadow was founded by Nichols in 1968, with the team's iconic logo and branding featuring a cloaked spy. With wild race car designs, Shadow made waves in Can-Am and Formula 1 in the 1970s with championship wins in the former and a grand prix win with future Australian world champion Alan Jones in the latter. Nichols passed away in 2017 at the age of 92.

His daughter Penny, Harris, the designer of the early Shadows such as the Can-Am MKI Mosport and MKI Prototype, and Jim Bartel, the current owner of the Shadows, appeared in the Adelaide Marriott Grand Marquee at the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival to discuss the Shadow legacy.

Harris was joined by British touring car champion and driver of the Shadows at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, Jake Hill, in another session in the Adelaide Marriott Grand Marquee, discussing the cars, their histories and their unique features.
