In the realm of motorsport, Adelaide is most commonly known for hosting Formula One and V8 Supercars. However, our history of motorsport extends much wider than this. Famously, Adelaide hosted the 2000 Race of a Thousand Years; an endurance race that marked the final round of the 2000 American Le Mans Series. The impressive occasion saw drivers from across the globe compete on the full length Adelaide Grand Prix circuit, racing into the night in what replicated scenes from the iconic Circuit de la Sarthe.

Le Mans style racing returns to Adelaide in the all-new dedicated Le Mans category at the 2025 Adelaide Motorsport Festival. Session one of the thoroughbred category saw a number of Le Mans style sports cars take to the circuit in wheel-to-wheel action. Competitors of the 24hrs of Le Mans, such as the iconic Mazda 767B, the Nissan R88C, the Lola T610 and the pair of Porsche 962’s battled it out with similar spec sports cars such as the Australian-built Kaditcha K583 and the Group C2 Argo JM19C.
Having the wildly rapid Le Mans cars tackle the Victoria Park circuit, with numerous star drivers behind the wheel, was a true spectacle, and we are eager for this category to return to the track shortly.
