Heard across Adelaide, the Pagani Huayra R, Pagani Zonda R, Bugatti Bolide, Aston Martin Vulcan, Rodin Sintura and Brabham BT62 took to the track in the Hypercar category, blessing the ears of attendees as they demonstrated the true symphony produced by their off-the-tap, unrestricted power.

Crowds flocked to the trackside viewing areas to catch the action, with the orchestral Pagani Huayra R and incredible Bugatti Bolide making their on-track Australian debut; a memorable occasion for all in attendance.

Representing Italy, the duo of carbon-clad, ear-bursting Paganis (pictured above) are both powered by a six-litre, naturally-aspirated V12 engine, producing 750 horsepower at 7500RPM in the Zonda R and 838 horsepower at 8250RPM in the Huayra R respectively.

With only 15 Zonda Rs and 30 Huayra R’s ever made, having these outrageous machines sprint around the Victoria Park circuit was certainly an unbelievable exhibition.

Alongside the pair of Paganis, the ultra-rare Aston Martin Vulcan took to the track, contributing to the symphony thanks to its seven-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine. With only 24 examples produced, the Vulcan is capable of a top speed of more than 320km/h and pays homage to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Also sent from across the ditch with the Vulcan, the Rodin Sintura also tackled the circuit in the first Hypercar session, with a unique yet equally orchestral tone adding to the category’s abundance of noise. New Zealand’s re-imagined GT1-era racer is reworked from the Sintura S99 sportscar of the late 1990s, and is powered by a four-litre, naturally-aspirated V10 engine revving all the way to 10,500RPM – a concoction which results in mesmerising sound. This is the first time the Sintura has attended the event, and the first Hypercar session saw it make a lasting impression.

The menacing, unapologetic Bugatti Bolide also made its mark on the Victoria Park circuit, showcasing its immense power and capabilities against its fellow track-only classmates. The Bolide features an unprecedented quad-turbocharged, eight-litre 16-cylinder engine, producing 1578 horsepower – staggering figures which blew the crowd away as it punched through the seven-speed gearbox. The unparalleled, brutalist design was a crowd favourite, and was a rare sight considering only 40 Bolides are to be produced.

A homegrown hero, the Brabham BT62, was also part of the Hypercar session. Powered by a mid-mounted 5.4-litre V8 engine, the BT62 produces over 700 horsepower at 7200RPM. Its distinctive V8 tone stood out amongst the high pitched V12 and V10 power plants, and the crowd enjoyed viewing this frequent Adelaide Motorsport Festival attendee participate once again.
