A month after taking to the bustling city streets of the Adelaide CBD in a groundbreaking stunt, the Jaguar R2 has displayed its raw power and unrestricted symphony of noise on the Victoria Park Circuit amongst the star-studded Formula One category.

The R2, driven and owned by New Zealand Formula 5000 and Formula Ford Champion Andy Higgins, is powered by the screaming Cosworth CR-3 V10 engine; a three-litre naturally-aspirated unit capable of producing around 820 horsepower. Whilst the R2’s competitive performance fell short of expectations, the V10-powered open wheeler became an icon of the sport, due to the incredible, screaming noise emitted as it’s pushed on the track.
The Jaguar R2 made a lasting impression on Adelaide Motorsport Festival punters in the afternoon Formula One session of day one, easily distinguishable around the length of the circuit due to its unmistakable exhaust note. The track was lined with spectators as Higgins joined the jam-packed session, with the blissful noise echoing throughout the city of Adelaide and neighbouring suburbs.
Whilst the R2 is arguably one of the greatest sounding cars to emerge out of Formula One, it's certainly one of the best looking too. The metallic green livery drew immense attention and became a crowd favourite amongst the equally colourful array of competitors.
Keen to see and hear more of the ear-bursting Jaguar R2? No worries. It joins the Formula One category again on day two at 12:45pm and 4:00pm.
