The Bates and McRae surnames are synonymous with the world of rallying.
The Bates' spearhead Toyota's official rally program in Australia, with a long association with the Japanese brand across two generations. Neal Bates claimed four Australian Rally Championship drivers' titles, while son Harry Bates has won two Australian Rally Championship titles.
Alister McRae also followed in the footsteps of his father, five-time British Rally Champion Jimmy McRae, competing alongside brother and 1995 world champion Colin McRae in the World Rally Championship.
The Bates' and McRae attended the 2024 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival, with Neal and Harry Bates driving a variety of Toyota rally cars and McRae switching to two wheels by riding a Honda SP1 superbike.
They joined host Charlie Barlow to discuss their lives in rallying and more in the Grand Marquee.
