Shadow was founded by Don Nichols in 1968, with the team's iconic logo and branding featuring a cloaked spy. With wild race car designs, Shadow made waves in Can-Am and Formula 1 in the 1970s with championship wins in the former and a grand prix win with future Australian world champion Alan Jones in the latter. Nichols passed away in 2017 at the age of 92. His daughter Penny is a special guest of the Adelaide Motorsport Festival at the event in 2025.

Trevor Harris, the designer of the early Shadows such as the Can-Am MKI Mosport and MKI Prototype heading to Adelaide, will join Nichols at the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival. Harris started working with Shadow in 1969, conceiving and designing the radical Can-Am cars that have been a star attraction at Goodwood events in recent years.

Harris and Nichols will appear in the Adelaide Marriott Grand Marquee over the course of the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival, discussing the legacy and legend of the Shadow team.

The 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival will once again feature various categories, ranging from Formula 1 cars, V8 Supercars, sportscars, touring cars, motorbikes and more with the action non-stop without a break in track activity at any stage of the day. Off track there will be car displays, kids' zones, bars and food trucks, exhibitors and traders, activations and more, in a picnic in the park setting.

Tickets are on sale now with weekend tickets and single-day tickets available, in addition to tickets to the Toyota Gazoo Racing Garden and VIP Suite hospitality offerings.
