Michael Schumacher Benetton coming to the 2024 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival

The Benetton B193B Ford that Michael Schumacher raced over the course of the 1993 Formula 1 season will be on track at the 2024 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival on March 16 and 17.

Schumacher raced the B193B in his second full season in Formula 1, winning the Portuguese Grand Prix, with the car returning to Adelaide where it raced for a final time in the Australian Grand Prix.

Designed by Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne, the B193B is powered by a V8 Ford Cosworth that produces 700 horsepower at 13,200RPM. Schumacher finished fourth in the 1993 Formula 1 drivers’ championship with the B193B, with Benetton third in the constructors’ championship. A season later in 1994, Schumacher won the first of his seven Formula 1 world championships following a title-deciding collision with Damon Hill in Adelaide.

The B193B will be on track alongside other Benettons, including the B190 that won 1990 Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide, in addition to other Formula 1 cars that will be announced soon in the Formula 1 category at the 2024 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival.

Adelaide Motorsport Festival event director Tim Possingham states: “This car is absolutely iconic and has an incredibly rich provenance. Cars like this are only seen on track a couple of times a year and mostly only in the northern hemisphere at places such as Goodwood. We are very pleased to see that the Adelaide Motorsport Festival is attracting cars such as this. Our proximity to Europe, where these cars reside, is a challenge for us, but it is great to see that we are attracting more and more of these cars year on year and going from strength to strength.”

Held the week prior to the Australian Grand Prix, the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival is a museum in motion, displaying historic, rare and significant racing vehicles on the Victoria Park section of the Adelaide Street Circuit.

Categories featuring Formula 1, V8 Supercars, Group C and A touring cars, sportscars and more will feature over the course of the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival, in addition to on-track demonstrations, off-track displays, villas and more.
