Most radical F1 car to be a star attraction of Adelaide Motorsport Festival in 2025

One of the most radical Formula 1 cars ever built, a six-wheeled Tyrrell P34, will be one of the star attractions at the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival on March 8 and 9.

The Tyrrell P34, commonly known as the "six-wheeler", was designed by Derek Gardner using four specially manufactured 10-inch diameter wheels and tyres at the front, with two ordinary-sized wheels at the back.

Tyrrell raced the P34 in the 1976 and 1977 Formula 1 seasons, winning the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix with Jody Scheckter. After a string of podiums across both seasons, Tyrrell abandoned the concept for the 1978 season with the Formula 1 rules changed to ensure cars must have four wheels.

Only a handful of P34s still exist, with the car heading to the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival appearing courtesy of motorsport entrepreneur Tony Quinn. Getting behind the wheel of the P34 in addition to Quinn at the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival will be Australian motorsport legend Craig Lowndes. The car will be flown into Adelaide a matter of days before the event starts.

The 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival will once again feature various categories, ranging from Formula 1 cars, V8 Supercars, sportscars, touring cars, motorbikes and more with the action non-stop without a break in track activity at any stage of the day. Off track there will be car displays, kids' zones, bars and food trucks, exhibitors and traders, activations and more, in a picnic in the park setting.

Tickets are on sale now with weekend tickets and single-day tickets available, in addition to tickets to the Toyota Gazoo Racing Garden and VIP Suite hospitality offerings.
