McLaren Senna part of McLaren 60th anniversary celebrations

The 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival celebrates the 60th anniversary of McLaren, and what better way to do so than with a McLaren Senna.

Brazilian Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna won the Formula 1 world championship three times (1988, 1990 and 1991) with McLaren. He has been recognised by many as one of the greatest in the history of the sport, tragically losing his life in 1994.

Thirty years since Senna graced the Adelaide Street Circuit, winning a grand prix for the final time in Adelaide in 1993, the McLaren Senna will take part in the McLaren 60th anniversary celebrations at the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival.

McLaren unveiled the Senna in 2018; a piece of engineering excellence that is fundamentally a road-legal race car. McLaren strived to honour the legacy of Senna by producing the fastest hypercar they have ever built.

The Senna is the lightest McLaren since the F1 – weighing only 1198kg. Yet, due to the tremendous amounts of active aerodynamics, the Senna manages to produce 800kg of downforce.

In the development of the Senna, McLaren had a drive to reflect the emotions and feelings that Senna experienced while piloting his grand prix car. Because of this, the power and handling were prioritised, producing 789hp from a twin-turbo V8 platform.

Also confirmed for the McLaren 60th anniversary celebrations is a McLaren Artura and M8E CanAm car, which will be part of the Invitational category.
