The fan-favourite 1989 Leyton House CG891 Judd will return to Adelaide for the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
The Adrian Newey-designed CG891 has been a regular at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, joining the list of Adelaide Grand Prix-era Formula 1 cars at the event.
Ivan Capelli and Maurício Gugelmin drove the CG891 over the course of the 1989 Formula 1 season, with Gugelmin finishing just outside the points in seventh place at the season-ending Adelaide Grand Prix. Capelli drove the CG891 at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival on a number of occasions.
The CG891 joins other 1980s Leyton House-backed racers at the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival, with the Kremer Racing Leyton House-liveried Porsche 962C Group C sportscar making its first appearance at the event in addition to a Leyton House Formula 3000 car.
Capelli won the Formula 3000 championship in 1986 before stepping up with Leyton House into Formula 1 in 1987, running an F3000/F1 hybrid car, the March 87P, at the season-opening Brazilian Grand Prix.
The CG891 joins other Adelaide Grand Prix-era cars at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, including two 1989 Brabham BT58 Judds, two 1985 Ferrari 156/85s, a 1992 Brabham BT60B Judd, a 1988 Larrousse Lola LC88 Cosworth, a 1988 Arrows A10B Megatron and more.
