David Brabham to drive Brabham BT62 at the 2024 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival

Australian former Formula 1 driver and Le Mans and Bathurst winner David Brabham will return to the Adelaide Motorsport Festival in 2024, driving the Brabham BT62 high-performance sportscar that was built in Adelaide under the Brabham Automotive banner.

Brabham raced in Formula 1 over two seasons, including at the Adelaide Grand Prix, in 1990 and 1994, in a glittering career that included a Bathurst 1000 victory in 1997, a 24 Hours of Le Mans win in 2009 and more.

Only a handful of BT62s were made under the Brabham Automotive banner in Adelaide between 2018 and 2024, with the BT62 powered by a mid-mounted 5.4-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine, producing over 700 horsepower at 7200RPM.

Brabham will share driving duties of the BT62 in the Invitational category with current Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas. While Bottas will drive the BT62 in the 2:45pm Invitational session on Sunday 17 March, Brabham will get behind the wheel in the other sessions across the event.

Brabham is the latest Formula 1 personality coming to the 2024 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival, alongside Bottas and Liam Lawson, long-time team principal Guenther Steiner, world champion Damon Hill and Sky Sports F1 lead commentator David Croft over the course of March 16 and 17.

Held the week prior to the Australian Grand Prix, the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival is a museum in motion, displaying historic, rare and significant racing vehicles on the Victoria Park section of the Adelaide Street Circuit.

Categories featuring Formula 1, V8 Supercars, Group C and A touring cars, sportscars and more will feature over the course of the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival, in addition to on-track demonstrations, off-track displays, villas and more.
