Classic Mercedes-Benz DTM car coming in 2024

One of Mercedes-Benz’s iconic DTM racers, a Mercedes-Benz 190E DTM Group A touring car, will be at the 2024 Adelaide Motorsport Festival on March 16 and 17.

The Mercedes-Benz 190E competed in the German-based Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) from the late 1980s to the early 1990s, with three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Klaus Ludwig giving Mercedes-Benz its first DTM title with the 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II in 1992.

The Mercedes-Benz 190E coming to the Adelaide Motorsport Festival is an ex-Ludwig car, in the classic Sonax black and silver livery. The four-cylinder engine powered Group A car produced more than 350 horsepower for a top speed approaching 300km/h.

The DTM was once the premier touring car category in the world, as German-based manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW did battle for supremacy across Europe.

The Mercedes-Benz 190E DTM car will run in the Invitational category at the 2024 Adelaide Motorsport Festival, alongside the already confirmed Mazda 767B sportscar with the other cars in the category being announced soon.

Cars and motorbikes also confirmed for the 2024 Adelaide Motorsport Festival include the Australian Grand Prix-winning Benetton B190 Ford; the V10-powered Benetton B200; the 1991 and 1992 Bathurst 1000-winning Nissan Skyline GT-R R32; and motorcycle grand prix bikes, the Yamaha YZR 500cc and Aprilia ART GP13, while Finnish Formula 1 race winner Valtteri Bottas will be at the event on Sunday March 17.
